Acclaimed actresses Lee Ja-ram, Kim Sin-rok, and Cha Ji-yeon have been cast in the Korean premiere of the play 'Prima Facie', set to begin on August 27 at Chungmu Art Center. This solo performance play, originally written by Suzie Miller, follows Tessa, an ambitious lawyer who becomes a rape victim, challenging the legal system over 782 days. Known for its intense solo performance requiring a single actress to command the stage for 110 minutes, this production has garnered significant attention worldwide, winning awards such as the Tony Award for Best Actress. With Lee Ja-ram's artistic prowess in pansori (a Korean genre of musical storytelling), Kim Sin-rok's impactful on-screen and stage presence, and Cha Ji-yeon's musical theater dominance, this premiere promises a compelling theatrical experience. Directed by Shin Yu-cheong, the play is highly anticipated in the context of a rising trend of solo performances in theater.
