UM Tai-Jung, a pioneering figure in Korean abstract sculpture, showcases his inspirations from the Dunhuang Mogao Caves in his solo exhibition "World Worlds" at Arario Gallery in Seoul, running until August 2nd. The exhibition features 27 pieces where Um envisions unique worlds through his sculptures, utilizing materials such as copper and stainless steel. His works, influenced by both Buddhist aesthetics and philosophers like Mircea Eliade and Martin Heidegger, aim to create a spiritual and symbolic aura that transcends the physical realm. Despite his Christian background, Um's sculptures harmonize elements of both Eastern and Western ideologies, seeking to uncover profound truths and establish order in the metaphysical worlds he creates. This exhibition promises a rich, contemplative experience through pieces like his "Mandala" series and "The Stranger's Sanctuary" sculptures, challenging viewers to engage both visually and spiritually.
