Jean-Michel Basquiat’s works are making their way to Seoul for a large-scale exhibition at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) starting September 22. Despite his early death at the age of 28, Basquiat became a major figure in contemporary art by incorporating elements of graffiti and street culture into his paintings. The exhibit, organized by the Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo, will feature 60 artworks, including notable pieces like 'Exu' (1988) and 'Untitled' (1986). Known as the 'Kurt Cobain of modern art', Basquiat's influence continues to be felt in the art world. Visitors will have the chance to explore his creative process through his notebooks and understand the symbolism in his work.
