Cello maestro Mischa Maisky expresses the indescribable joy of performing classical music with his daughter, pianist Lily Maisky, as they prepare for a duo concert in Seoul on March 3. Celebrating 20 years of performing together, Mischa explains that playing with his children is a lifelong dream surpassing any other musical collaboration. Mischa, originally from Latvia, is renowned globally since winning the 1966 Tchaikovsky International Competition and is known in Korea as the mentor of cellist and conductor Jang Ha-na. The father-daughter duo began performing together in 2005 and have released numerous albums as musical partners. Lily Maisky highlights the unspoken understanding and communication she shares with her father, particularly through music. The upcoming performance features pieces by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Brahms, and Schumann, with 'love' as a central theme. Mischa Maisky believes classical music is a universal form of communication that can reduce violence and conflict in the world if more people understand its power.
