Warning Against Fake Fashion Brand Websites: Check Site Addresses Carefully

Recently, there has been a sharp increase in scams through fake websites posing as popular fashion brands, such as Stokke and Zara Home. Over the last 7 months, there have been 150 reported cases with financial losses totaling approximately 20 million KRW. These scams often use SNS ads, linking users to fake websites that resemble official ones. To avoid falling prey, consumers should be wary if the website's address is not ending in '.com'. It's advised to capture screens of order and payment details and if goods aren't delivered within two weeks, to dispute the transaction with credit card companies for possible reimbursement. Seoul's government is advocating for legal amendments to better protect consumers from such fraudulent activities.
