Processed Food Prices Shift in July: Cola, Doenjang, Noodles Jump Over 10%

In July 2026, prices for many processed foods in South Korea showed mixed movements. Among 26 frequently purchased processed items tracked by the Korea Consumer Agency, 17 rose month-on-month. Cola recorded the largest rise (+11.2%), followed by doenjang (Korean soybean paste) (+11.0%) and noodles (+10.6%). Other increases included cooking oil (+7.9% among monitored staple items), ketchup, and mayonnaise. Conversely, bottled water fell the most (-5.6%), with cereal and ham also declining. Retailers’ discount events caused short-term price fluctuations for items such as cola, doenjang, noodles, and cooking oil, while global supply changes helped push flour prices down. The report highlights volatile, item-specific movements rather than a uniform trend across processed foods.
