Zara opened a new flagship store near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul — its second in Korea — occupying three floors and about 2130 m². Raúl Estradera, Inditex’s Chief Communications Officer, told Korea Economic Daily that Korean customers have high standards for detail and service, and Inditex is applying lessons learned in Korea worldwide. The store features a large three-floor sculpture of an imugi (a mythical Korean serpent-like creature) and dancheong (traditional multicolored decorative patterns) touches, symbolizing growth potential. The store also includes “Zacafe,” a rare in-store café concept available only in a few countries (Spain, Korea, Japan, Kuwait), designed to improve the shopping experience and encourage repeat visits. Inditex — owner of Zara and the world’s top SPA (specialty retailer of private label apparel) brand — reported strong sales growth and a rising share price despite global headwinds; the company is emphasizing improved store quality, omnichannel services (like 2-hour in-store pickup for online orders), and AI/digital innovation. Estradera said Korea’s sophisticated market drives Zara to elevate retail standards globally, while Zara aims to reach more customers by offering quality materials and well-tailored clothing rather than pursuing pure luxury.
