Gangneung City in Gangwon Province has selected Jeongdongjin and the Simkog Badabuchaegil (Sea-Fan Trail) as its recommended September travel destinations for the '2026–2027 Visit Gangneung Year.' Promoted under the theme “At the edge of the waves, meet the sea up close,” the route follows coastal terraces designated as a natural monument and offers scenic cliffs and East Sea views ideal for early-autumn trekking. The city suggests a route that includes a walk along the Sea-Fan Trail, visits to Jeongdongjin Station, the Sandglass Park (Moraesigye Park), and Heonhwaro, and evening attractions like the Moonlight Art Show for a mix of coastal hiking, culture, and nightlife. Gangneung is also highlighting local events: an SNS photo campaign linked to the visit site where participants can post photos and register on the Visit Gangneung site for a chance to win souvenirs. The city recently opened the Gangneung Coffee Botanical Garden, reflecting its reputation as a coffee city.
