Magic Night: Firefighters Rest While Children Dream at Illusion Show

At Seoul’s Sejong Center, a special 30th-anniversary magic show by illusionist Lee Eun-gyeol gave frontline firefighters and 100 children from care centers a rare, restorative evening. For two hours, firefighters could relax with their families away from ever-ready alarms, easing stress from traumatic duty. Children from regional facilities (including centers in Gangneung, Wonju, and Miryang) experienced large-scale stage effects—like a helicopter and a train bursting onto the stage—that sparked awe and inspired dreams of future careers. Organized by the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association, the outing highlights a growing focus in disaster response on emotional care—using culture and the arts to help both responders and affected children heal and imagine new possibilities.
