Powdered electrolyte (electrolyte) drinks, once mainly used for exercise, are becoming a part of everyday hydration in Korea, driving rapid growth in the powder market. Their portability and ability to adjust concentration by adding water have prompted sports drink makers and wellness beverage companies to introduce new stick-pack products. Market researcher Grand View projects Korea’s electrolyte powder market to grow from $175.4M in 2025 to $344.1M by 2033, with a 2026–2033 CAGR of 8.8%. Major brands are launching powder lines: Lotte Chilsung released a 35g Gatorade powder stick (mix with 400–500ml water), and Pocari Sweat (Dong-A Otsuka) reports a doubling of powder sales over five years and strong overall growth. Wellness brands like Tizen launched kombucha-based “Kombucha Ion” sticks using Jeju lava seawater minerals, low-calories and zero sugar to appeal beyond sports users to everyday hydration and light activities. Industry sources expect competition to intensify with more low-sugar, low-calorie and functional formulations as powder electrolytes expand into daily use and varied consumption situations.
