Seoul Lights Up: Hanwha to Host Seoul International Fireworks Festival on Oct 5

Hanwha will hold the Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 on October 5 at Yeouido Hangang Park, moving the event slightly earlier this year to align with Chuseok holiday travel and foreign tourism demand. The long-running festival, a Hanwha social contribution since 2000 that draws over one million visitors annually, will feature teams from South Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom. The 2026 theme is “Finding Your Light,” portraying individual and collective hope through an array of colors in the pyrotechnic displays. New highlights include ‘tower fireworks’ on Wonhyo Bridge and a mirrored “decalcomanie” (decalcomania: symmetrical visual effect) using bridge-based “bridge staging” to spread the show across both sides of the river for wider viewing. Attendee amenities and interactive programs will be run in cooperation with Seoul city and the Seoul Tourism Foundation, plus a global tourist package linked to the Pompidou Center (퐁피두센터). Safety measures are expanded with about 5,000 staff including 1,200 Hanwha volunteers, an “Orange Safety” system to monitor crowd density in real time, and a multi-agency control center for rapid response. The festival will also be livestreamed on HanwhaTV for those who cannot attend in person.
