The 33rd Taebaeksan Snow Festival runs through Feb. 8 around Taebaeksan National Park, featuring large snow sculptures, a giant sledding hill, ice sled runs, an igloo cafeteria (iglou cafe), and an indoor kids' playground. The main snow sculpture exhibition, themed “Snow Land,” highlights Taebaek’s local character and Korean culture with large works depicting sports, food, and cultural heritage. Organizers are promoting nightly viewing until 10 p.m., saying the lighting gives the sculptures a different, more atmospheric feel and allows visitors to appreciate the works more leisurely. Nightly hours will continue through the festival’s end.
