KREAM, a Korean limited-edition marketplace, launched “KREAM Gold” to enable safer and easier peer-to-peer (P2P) trading of gold and silver. The platform uses a multi-step inspection process including visual checks, XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) non-destructive compositional analysis, conductivity testing, and precision weighing down to 0.01g. Only items meeting 99.9% purity are accepted. Listings showing more than 0.01g shortage from the listed weight are rejected and transactions canceled. The service reduces fraud and phone scam risks with a contactless process, provides clear price and fee info in-app, and allows sellers to ship via courier with immediate settlement once an item passes inspection. Counterfeit prevention includes a 15% penalty and service suspension for sellers caught attempting to sell fakes; verified fakes after purchase trigger a buyer compensation policy of 300% of the transaction value. Initially KREAM Gold accepts standardized items like gold bars, coins, and silver bars (not jewelry), and payments are limited to bank transfers. To commemorate the launch, KREAM is waiving buyer/seller fees, giving 100 early sellers 100,000 points, and offering random coupons for deep discounts on one don (3.75g) of gold until Feb 8. (don: traditional Korean weight unit, 3.75g)
