Gallery Joeun in Yongsan, Seoul is hosting a two-person show, “Edge of Serenity,” featuring sculptor Jo Won-jae and artist Sung Yeon-hwa through January 24. The exhibition explores layers of time, memory, and emotion, focusing on the boundary where movement meets stillness and moments of calm emerge. Jo’s work examines the sensorial relationship with nature, using clay’s softness and malleability to trace how time permeates material. Sung uses the line as a core expression of personal identity and memory, drawing on the brushstroke practice from calligraphy (seoye, Korean calligraphic training) and childhood impressions to reinterpret pure emotion into new visual forms.
