A trio of Korean performing arts events: The musical concert 'The Mission: K' runs Jan. 30–Feb. 1 at Sejong Center's Grand Theater, dramatizing the stories of four late Joseon-era missionaries (Horace Allen, Horace Underwood, Oliver Avison, Louis Severance) who helped found institutions like Severance Hospital and Yonsei University. Actors include Kim Dong-jun as Avison, MJ (from Astro) as Allen, Je-yun (from SF9) as Underwood, and Ricky (from Teen Top) as Severance; director Ahn Jin-seong and producer/music director Jang So-young lead the creative team. Soprano Lee Hye-ji performs 'A Journey of Song: Piano & Guitar' on Jan. 28 at Seoul Arts Center’s IBK Chamber Hall, collaborating with guitarist Kim Jin-se and pianist Moon Jae-won and presenting works by Purcell and Lippé. Pianist Han Sang-il debuts as conductor with the Prime Philharmonic on Jan. 23 at Gunpo Culture & Arts Center, conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 and featuring concertos by Haydn, Grieg and Tchaikovsky with soloists Seo Ah-young, Kim Ye-eum and Nam Ye-seo.
