Hyundai Mobis Sets Up Thailand Subsidiary to Accelerate Southeast Asia Push

Hyundai Mobis has established a sales subsidiary in Thailand in Q3 to meet rising demand for after-sales (AS) parts and speed its Southeast Asian expansion. The new Thai office is the company’s third regional base after Indonesia and Vietnam and will handle local AS parts sales. The move aligns with Hyundai Motor’s increasing activity in Thailand—Hyundai plans to start a CKD (completely knocked down) plant next year to assemble some electric models like the Ioniq 5, targeting about 5,000 EVs annually—which is expected to further boost parts demand. Thailand is a major ASEAN car market (about 600,000 new-car sales annually), and Hyundai’s current share is small, leaving room for growth amid strong competition from Japanese makers like Toyota and newcomers such as BYD. Hyundai Mobis aims to leverage its local presence to capture more business opportunities, potentially supplying other automakers as well.
