Weifang City (Weifang, Shandong, China) held its first inbound tourism briefing for the Korean market on the 24th at the Ambassador Pullman Hotel in Seoul under the theme “Han풍Weiyun Mountain-Sea Invitation.” The event, organized by Weifang’s Culture and Tourism Bureau, brought together Weifang officials, cultural groups, travel agencies and business delegations, with about 100 Korean participants including Seoul city council members, the Seoul Tourism Association, travel and airline companies, cultural organizations and media. Programs featured joint performances by Chinese intangible cultural heritage inheritor Ma Longsheng and Korean daegeum (traditional bamboo flute) master Cho Cheol-hyun (a designated human cultural asset), an indoor kite (연) performance (Weifang’s signature cultural craft), and a cultural market showcasing traditional kite-making and woodblock kite paintings — highlighting Weifang’s intangible cultural heritage. Weifang promoted specialized tourism courses aimed at Korean visitors—cultural experiences, eco-healing, lantern and kite culture, and rural stay programs—and signed MOUs with Korean travel agencies and cultural firms to cooperate on tourist flow, product development and joint marketing. Officials from the Chinese Embassy’s cultural section, the China National Tourism Office in Seoul, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (Korea-China-Japan) and Shandong’s Korea office attended to support bilateral cooperation. Weifang’s culture and tourism director Gao Qiang called Korea a key international partner and expressed hope for expanded cultural and tourism exchanges following the briefing.
