Winter Harmony: Married Opera Duo Performs at Daegwallyeong Music Festival

Soprano Hong Hye-ran and tenor Choi Won-hwi, a married opera couple, will present the ‘Winter’ program of the Daegwallyeong Music Festival on the 28th at Yangyang Cultural Center. With pianist Jung Tae-yang, they will perform major opera arias by Puccini and Donizetti, Korean art songs like Yun Hak-jun’s “Greeting,” Kim Shin’s cycle based on poems by Kim So-wol, and a rendition of the Korean folk song “Arirang” (a traditional Korean folk song). Hong, the first Asian winner of the 2011 Queen Elizabeth Competition, has performed at the Metropolitan Opera and major international venues and is now a professor at Korea National University of Arts. Choi has sung lead roles with companies in the U.S. and Europe and continues international engagements, including an upcoming role at Atlanta Opera. Tickets are 30,000 KRW with discounts for Gangwon residents, students, people with disabilities, and veterans.
