A 2025 survey of 11,000 consumers in 22 major cities by South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation found Korean-style fried chicken is the most popular K-food overseas (14.0%), followed by kimchi (9.5%) and bibimbap (8.2%). In the past year, chicken was also the most frequently eaten Korean dish (28.3%), with kimchi (28.0%), bibimbap (19.9%) and ramyeon (instant noodles) (16.6%) common. Awareness of Korean cuisine reached a record 68.6%, and 94.2% of those who tried it were satisfied; over 80% said they would eat it again. 65.1% reported that K-content (Korean movies and dramas) sparked their interest in trying Korean food. Officials said the results show cultural content and cuisine spread together and pledged to expand region-specific promotion and tie-ins with K-content.
