A memorial exhibition for late Korean ceramic master Kim Yong-mun opened on the 22nd in Yeongwol. The 'Maksabal Silk Road Collection' showcases over 370 works by Kim and international and domestic artists through March. The opening featured a ceremonial shamanic-style performance by Jeong Gi-ok and a demonstration of the potter’s wheel used by Kim. Colleagues recalled Kim’s lifelong dream to establish his own museum in Korea; he had been preparing a Maksabal Museum in Yeongwol before his death in Turkey on July 1. The show includes works from five overseas artists (including Spanish glass artist Musatov), 35 Korean Maksabal members, and invited artists, highlighting Kim’s global promotion of maksabal and his decades of leadership in wood-fired kiln festivals.
