Two Korean sopranos present solo recitals at Yeongsan Art Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. On the 29th, Park Seon-kyung returns for a homecoming recital after advanced studies at Manhattan School of Music and a doctorate at the University of Minnesota; she has performed major opera roles and at venues including Carnegie Hall. Accompanied by pianist Kim Ji-yeon, Park’s program features song cycles such as Schumann’s Frauenliebe und -leben, Britten’s On This Island, and Debussy’s Fêtes. On the 30th, Lee Ae-reum, educated at Korea National University of Arts and the Darmstadt conservatory in Germany, presents a recital drawing on her experience as an oratorio specialist; her program includes Bach arias (BWV 49), Clara Schumann’s Six Lieder, and an aria from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
