KBS Symphony Orchestra unveiled its 2026 season lineup with world-renowned conductors and soloists. Maestro Jung Myung-whun continues his Mahler series and will lead a concert version of Bizet’s Carmen (opera), highlighted as the season’s centerpiece for the orchestra’s 70th anniversary. Other guest conductors include Eliahu Inbal presenting Shostakovich, Pietari Inkinen with Sibelius, Marek Janowski with Bruckner, and returning Mahler conductor Yoel Levi. International soloists such as violinist Leonidas Kavakos, 2021 Chopin Competition winner Bruce Liu (pianist), and cellist Steven Isserlis join Korean stars including conductor Jang Hana, clarinetist Kim Han, and piano duo brothers Lee Hyuk and Lee Hyo who will perform Frank’s concerto for two pianos (Flanck). The season features major symphonic works—Mahler, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky—and ends with Beethoven’s Ninth under Jang Hana. The Carmen concert opera will feature leading international singers and aims to celebrate the orchestra’s 70-year milestone while charting the next era.
