The contemporary ballet 'That June, Becoming a Nameless Star' premieres on the evening of the 10th at Chuncheon Culture & Arts Center. Inspired by teacher Jin Seong-gyun, who served as a student soldier (hakdobyeong) during the June 25 (Korean War) Battle of Chuncheon, the piece transforms historical memory into dance. The work, which won the top prize at the 34th National Dance Festival—the first such honor for a Gangwon dance troupe—features about 40 dancers memorializing wartime sacrifice and offering solace through choreography. Professor Park Ki-hyun (artistic director and choreographer) and director Baek Young-tae lead the production. Former National Ballet soloist Kim Hee-hyun stars as “Nameless,” with Jang Yoon-seo as “Soyang” and Kang Kyung-ho as “Storm.”
