A new production of Ronald Harwood's play 'The Dresser' will run from December 27 to March 1 at the National Theater's Daloreum Theater in Seoul. The drama, set in 1942 during World War II, follows a provincial British theatre company preparing Shakespeare's 'King Lear' amid air raids and the declining behavior of its aging lead, known as “The Sir.” Veteran Korean actors Park Geun-hyung, Jung Dong-hwan and Song Seung-hwan join the cast, with Song and Oh Man-seok alternating as the dresser Norman (the backstage assistant responsible for costume changes). Song Ok-sook and Jung Jae-eun play the lead's partner, while Song Young-jae and Yoo Byung-hoon play the actor Geoffrey. Director Jang Yoo-jung, who led the 2020 production, returns to direct this new staging. (dresser: a backstage assistant who helps actors with costumes and quick changes)
