Tourist Overcharging Can Be Reported Easily via QR CodesCreatrip Team
a month ago
South Korea’s central government will introduce QR-code-based quick reporting for tourist overcharging (baragiyogeum—excessive tourist prices) so visitors can file complaints on the spot. The system links local hotlines (‘area code + 120’) with the Korea Tourism Organization’s 1330 center to ensure reports are rapidly passed to local authorities for verification and possible sanctions. QR codes will be placed on maps, guidebooks, posters and online platforms (e.g., visitkorea) and promoted jointly by ministries and local governments to improve accessibility for both domestic and foreign tourists. Officials say the move aims to protect tourism’s trust and competitiveness and support fair, transparent local tourism markets.
