At a parliamentary inspection meeting held by the National Assembly, Kyochon F&B was criticized for reducing the weight of its boneless chicken from 700g to 500g without lowering the price, a move described as typical 'shrinkflation' (when a product reduces in size or quantity while maintaining the same price). Lawmakers pointed out the lack of sufficient notice to consumers. Kyochon CEO Song Jong-hwa acknowledged the issue and promised to improve notifications on delivery apps and offline. Concerns about supply issues and the impact on franchise stores were also raised, leading to a promise to stabilize supply.
