Kyochon Chicken's first store, founded in Gumi city, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, has grown into a 500 billion won brand over the past 30 years. The founder, Kang Won-Kang, invested the money from selling his taxi license into opening the store in 1991. Gumi city has embraced Kyochon's heritage, designating a street as 'Kyochon1991-Ro' and creating the 'Kyochon1991 Cultural Street' featuring sculptures, benches, and a Chicken and Beer Park. The area includes unique installations like the 'Egg Shaped Honey Bus Stop' and showcases Kyochon's signature platters and local beverages like makgeolli (a traditional Korean rice wine).
