Derma beauty (a blend of dermatology and beauty) is rapidly growing in South Korea as consumers scrutinize ingredients and efficacy. The domestic derma market nearly doubled from 789.3 billion won in 2020 to an estimated 1.5557 trillion won in 2025, with an average annual growth of 14.5%. Within skincare (excluding sun and hair care), derma beauty grew faster—about 15.7% annually—and now accounts for roughly 17–20% of the skincare market. Higher self-reported rates of sensitive skin among Korean women (56.8%) help explain demand for gentler, clinically tested products. Retailers and department stores are creating dedicated derma sections and multi-brand edit shops, while major companies like Amorepacific and LG Household & Health are strengthening derma portfolios and expanding overseas. Experts say consumer focus on clinical data and active ingredients will sustain derma beauty’s momentum.
