Korean Pet Brand Helps Clean Up Shelter Dogs and Break Stereotypes

Popomong, the pet brand of hygiene company Kkeutkkeunhanara, volunteers monthly at a cafe-style dog shelter in Seoul called Dasisarangbatgae (a cafe-style rescue shelter). The team brings pet shampoos, wipes, towels and new snacks, gives baths and walks, and helps clean kennels. The shelter focuses on showcasing dogs’ lovable present selves rather than their traumatic pasts to encourage adoption; about a dozen dogs live there and many are adopted each month. Popomong staff say these regular visits provide practical hygiene support and help change the stereotype that rescue dogs are dirty. The shelter operates like a cafe where visitors pay an entrance fee, enjoy drinks and interact with dogs; proceeds fund the dogs’ care. (Popomong is Kkeutkkeunhanara’s pet brand; Dasisarangbatgae is the shelter’s Korean name.)
