Blue House: Coordinate with U.S. for Tangible North Korea Progress, Avoid 'Korea-Passing'

South Korea’s National Security Office said Seoul will closely coordinate with the United States to ensure any renewed North Korea–U.S. talks lead to concrete progress on denuclearization and a peace framework, while avoiding any sidelining of South Korea. The NSO director emphasized maintaining strong deterrence and multi-dimensional preparation, and said Seoul is working with Washington on wide-ranging issues — from investment and corporate disputes (e.g., Coupang) to security and intelligence cooperation and transfer of wartime operational control. He also reported resuming a regular dialogue channel with Wang Yi (China’s Foreign Affairs chief) after a five-year break, seeking Chinese cooperation for South Korea’s “peace coexistence” policy and discussing reopening trilateral Korea-China-Japan cooperation ahead of President Lee Jae-myung’s APEC visit in Shenzhen.
