Sejong Mayor Jo Sang-ho announced plans to develop the Gobok Reservoir area in Yeonseo-myeon into a tourism destination that combines natural environment preservation with experiential tourism. He said the reservoir, alongside the Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex, will be a key hub for local growth and that the city aims to turn it into a nationwide tourism mecca. The mayor emphasized careful planning that balances conservation and development rather than loosening regulations indiscriminately, and pledged close cooperation with the Korea Rural Community Corporation (한국농어촌공사) to create a unique natural ecological park. Gobok Reservoir, Sejong’s largest reservoir (area 1.949 km²), was originally built to supply irrigation water and prevent floods for nearby farmland.
