CU convenience stores (operated by BGF Retail) teamed up with popular donut brand Knotted to release two limited-edition donuts: Strawberry Fresh Cream Donut and Low‑sugar Chocolate Cream Donut (each 3,500 KRW; 60,000 units each). About 30,000 units sold within ten days as CU targets Valentine’s Day demand with new dessert gift options. The move is part of CU’s broader response to rising bread prices—so-called “breadflation”—by offering differentiated, reasonably priced bakery items through collaborations and its value line “Old Bakery” (올드제과) with items priced around 1,500–1,700 KRW. CU also expanded premium partnerships under its “Bakehouse405” lineup with local bakeries and master pastry chefs to balance quality and affordability and attract cost‑conscious consumers.
