Artist Joo Myung-sun is showing an invitational solo exhibition, 'Souffle de vie' (French for ‘breath of life’), at Art Gallery Gold & Gem in Incheon’s Songdo. Joo uses rock salt (암염) as a primary painting material; the salt crystals react with ambient moisture and gradually crystallize on canvas, so the works continue to change after completion. Rather than presenting fixed images, the artist sets environmental conditions that allow the material to evolve, making each painting a time-based, ongoing process. The gallery emphasizes how light interacts with the salt to reveal texture and the accumulation of time. The show, which opened on the 14th, invites viewers to witness both the formed image and the temporal process of its emergence.
