On January 8, the Korea Federation of Textile Industries held the “2026 Textile & Fashion Industry New Year Gathering” at the Textile Center, attended by about 250 people including government officials, industry association leaders and CEOs. Vice Minister Moon Sinhak (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) and federation chairman Choi Byung-oh shared a vision for K-textiles and fashion emphasizing three directions: 1) transform the industry through AI by building an intelligent manufacturing system connecting yarn, fabric, fashion and distribution; 2) diversify export markets and enter premium segments by leveraging technology and responsible production to strengthen global competitiveness; and 3) develop textiles as strategic high-tech materials for defense, energy, mobility and aerospace to expand industrial and technical textile roles. The event featured a New Year congratulatory performance by winners of Phantom Singer season 1, “Porte di Quattro,” and soprano Angela Kang, plus a traditional New Year greeting ceremony (hallye) to promote industry unity. Regional and sector CEOs also attended to pledge cross-stream cooperation.
