SPC Group held the 14th 'My Dream is Pastry Chef' competition at its Seoul SPC Future Innovation Center, inviting children and adolescents from local youth centers to learn and compete in baking. Launched in 2012 with the nonprofit Busuragi Love Sharing (부스러기사랑나눔회), the program has supported about 14,000 participants from 850 institutions with roughly 1 billion KRW in funding for ingredients, training, and operations. This year 20 teams (10 children, 10 teens, 56 participants) advanced to the finals, working under professional instructors to create healthy-ingredient bakeries using whole wheat and barley flour. Judges from SPC research and pastry experts scored entries on taste, creativity, artistry and completeness. Grand prizes awarded: 500,000 KRW for the top team, with additional cash prizes for runners-up. Children’s winner “Sugar Rush” made a sugar-free fig-barley sandwich cookie (using barley flour and fig jam), while teen winners “Bakers of Dreams” presented a shrimp quiche using seasonal Ganghwa shrimp and cheese. SPC and Busuragi representatives said the program aims to help young people discover culinary talents and will continue supporting baking education and community outreach.
