Textile artist Lee Sang-mi will hold a solo exhibition titled “Woman, Precious Land” at the Seoul City Council main building from November 17–28. The show presents works exploring women's identity and nature in a political space, deliberately bringing long-tabooed aspects of femininity into view. Lee said she wants to break taboos and celebrate that “I am woman. I am nature. I am the earth. I am beautiful.” The exhibition was organized by Lee Hye-kyung, head of the Baek Pa-seon History and Culture Academy (Baek Pa-seon: a historical Korean woman who was taken to Japan and later linked to the revival of Japanese ceramics), a former Seoul council member active in cultural exchange and arts programming. Both Lee and the organizer volunteer at Gapyeong Flower Village, supporting artists with disabilities. Critics note the show’s significance: feminist art displayed in a political venue, subversion of norms, and an eco-aesthetic that reclaims female beauty amid lively feminist discourse. The exhibition is open daily 10:00–18:00, with an opening event on November 18 at 17:00; the Seoul City Council building is open to the public and visitors can view works and speak with the artist.
