In Jeju on Oct. 25, two island-themed events drew crowds: the 2025 Jeju Dosaegi (local pig) Festival at Saebyeol Oreum in Aewol and the 20th Jeju Horse Festival with the Reckles commemoration at LetsRun Park Jeju. The two-day pig festival, co-hosted by the Jeju Pig Farmers’ Cooperative and the Korea Pork Producers Association’s Jeju branch, featured performances by trot singer Yang Ji-eun and reggae-hiphop duo Haha & Skull, hands-on activities such as making and racing 'doni' (small pig-shaped toys), weight-guessing and auctions, a “catch the pork belly” game, and pig-leg wrestling. Jeju pork was sold at a 25% discount. At LetsRun Park, the horse festival included the governor’s cup race and a 'Reckles' concert with Gummy, BewhY, Monday Kiz and Hi-Key, plus the second Reckles memorial and plaque unveiling. Reckles was a Jeju mare born in 1948 famed for transporting ammunition 51 times in one day during the Korean War and later honored with U.S. military awards and recognition by Life magazine as one of the 20th century’s 100 heroes.
