The 49th Jirisan Piagol Maple Festival will be held Nov 1–2 at Piagol Maple Park in Tocheon-myeon, Gurye County. This year’s theme is “Retro, Nostalgic Vibes,” featuring multi-generational performances and hands-on programs. Day 1 opens with a maple ritual praying to the Jirisan mountain spirit (sanshin) for community well-being, plus calligraphy performance by artist Kim Hye-jin, traditional and fusion gugak (Korean traditional music) concerts, and a "Samhong" maple concert ("samhong" refers to red-yellow autumn foliage). Day 2 includes three-act busking shows, romantic saxophone performances, a maple fashion show, retro song contests, a retro-style cafe, vintage costume experiences, guided maple forest walks, and food booths showcasing local specialties. Simultaneously, a Sansuyu (Japanese cornelian cherry) fruit festival in Sandong-myeon offers more visitor activities.
