Final Stage of DIMF Features Chinese Musical 'Panda'

The closing act of the 19th Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF) in June will be the Chinese musical 'Panda,' a collaborative work produced by China's Songlei Musical Production. First premiered in 2022 at the Chengdu (a city in Sichuan Province known for pandas) Panda Breeding Research Base theatre, the musical has performed over 1005 times. It uniquely blends Sichuan Opera's dramatic elements with modern techniques. The story centers around five panda warriors who signify wisdom, benevolence, strength, humility, and faith, battling to protect their home from a dragon. The musical, involving cultural cooperation between Daegu and Chengdu through a sister-city agreement, supports efforts to bring pandas to Daegu Grand Park. This collaboration highlights the cultural exchange between South Korea and China.
