Did you know that one way of enjoying Korean instant noodles was to mix and match them? The most well-known at the moment has to be the combination we've all seen in the movie 'Parasite,' but there are way more you can explore! Watch Juwon Oppa's mukbang and see which ones you'd be keen on trying out.

1. Jjapaguri

Jjapaghetti + Neoguri

There's a reason why this combination has been loved by locals for years! This hard-to-fail combination is a great recipe for first-timers.

Directions

• Step 1. Put the noodles and flake packets into boiling water. 
• Step 2. When the noodles have been cooked, leave about 150ml of water and drain the rest. 
• Step 3. Put all the Jjapaghetti sauce in and put about half of Neoguri sauce in.
• Step 4. Lastly, put the Jjapaghetti oil in for the extra shine. (You can also simmer it over low heat for a short time!)

You don't necessarily have to put exactly half of the Neoguri sauce in. The more of it you put in, the spicier it becomes. It's really up to you to adjust the level, but the general consensus is about a half.

The recipe from 'the Parasite' also adds delicious hanwoo (premium Korean beef) to the mix. It surely is a recipe bound for success!

2. Bulgong

Buldak (Hot Chicken Flavor Ramyeon) + Gonghwachun Jjajang (Black Bean Noodles)

Gonghwachun, only available at GS25, tastes the most similar to restaurant-bought jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles). 

It's also quite spicy because you get the buldak sauce in there too, but the jjajang (black bean) sauce balances the spiciness out quite well!

Directions

• Step 1. Put the noodles and vegetable flakes into boiling water. 
• Step 2. Once the noodle's been cooked, drain all the water.
• Step 3. Mix in the jjajang sauce and buldak sauce as well as the oil. Mix everything well and enjoy!

3. GanS

Ganjjamppong (spicy noodle soup) + Spaghetti + Canned Tuna

This is a combination widely loved by Korean guys serving their military duties. Juwon Oppa wasn't too fond of this mix though.  

Directions

• Step 1. Put vegetable flakes and the noodles in boiling water. 
• Step 2. Once the noodles have been cooked, drain the noodles.
• Step 3. Put all the sauces and tuna in, mix it well and enjoy!

4. Bulsae

Buldak (Hot Chicken Flavor Ramyeon) + Teumsae Ramyeon

This is for all the spicy food lovers out there! This combination is ☠☠☠ x 100. Don't try this combination on an empty stomach.

Directions

• Step 1. Put the noodles and vegetable flakes in boiling water. 
• Step 2. Once the noodles have been cooked, drain the noodles.
• Step 3. Put all the sauces in, mix them well together and enjoy! ☠

If you simmer it on low heat while eating it, it gets even spicier.  

5. SinNagasaki

Sinramyeon + Nagasaki

Juwon Oppa says the soup is very rich in flavour and it's also refreshing. It's a bit spicy, but very manageable. It's not as spicy as the original Sinramyeon because the savoury Nagasaki soup balances it out.

Directions

Step 1. Put all the noodles and vegetable flakes in boiling water (Don't go overboard with water, you want to put a little less than you would for two packets of ramyeon).

• Step 2. Once the noodles have been cooked, put all the flakes in and boil them all together.
• Step 3. Boil it until you get a nice, rich colour. Enjoy the soup and the noodles together. Overall, the soup tasted great with this combination. If you're looking for a combination with soup, this one is a go-to.

Tips on Cooking Instant Noodles

To get the best chewy texture of the noodles, pull the noodles up into the cold air and then put them back into the hot water. Repeat this for as long as you cook the noodles.
