When foodies come to Korea to experience authentic cuisine here, one thing that rarely seems to get left out of the list is Korean barbeque. The sizzling sounds of thick meat on the hot stone grill fill travellers with expectations. There are so many different parts of meats offered in Korea, and picking and choosing parts of the meat is another way that adds fun to this popular cuisine.
Below are my experiences of Korean BBQ restaurants in Seoul, covering a lot of different areas of the city as well as our personal recommendations.
Top 16 Korean BBQ Places in Seoul
1. Ungteori Saenggogi Myeongdong Branch (엉터리 생고기 명동점)
- Address: 서울 중구 명동4길 23 2F

I would definitely recommend Ungteori Saenggogi for those who are just getting introduced to Korean BBQ. It's one of the most popular Korean BBQ restaurants in Korea and it's in the lower price range.
Those who love samgyeopsal (pork belly) and the beautiful marbling on the meat definitely need to go to Ungteori Saenggogi. They have branches throughout Seoul so you can fit it easily into your itinerary.

2. Ungteori Saenggogi Hongdae Branch (엉터리 생고기 홍대점)
- Address: 서울 마포구 어울마당로 118 2F
- Hours: 11:00-23:00
- Price: ₩11,800 per person (AYCE)
If you think Ungteori at Myeongdong branch is a bit pricey, then come to the Hongdae branch! Although Ungteori Saenggogi is a franchise, prices tend to differ by location.
Just keep in mind that Hongdae has a lot of options for affordable Korean BBQ whereas, in Myeongdong, Ungteori Saenggogi would be your only option for Korean BBQ at similar price range.
Also, I like to eat my Korean BBQ at Ungteori with steamed eggs and white rice complemented by doenjang jjigae (soybean stew). Ungteori Saenggogi is a good place for you to start your K BBQ journey!

3. Yeonnam Seo Seo Galbi (연남서서갈비)
- Address: 서울 마포구 백범로2길 32
- Hours: 12:00-20:00; Closed on Mondays; May close early when sold out
If Ungteori Saenggogi is the go-to out of big barbeque franchises, then Yeonnam Seo Seo Galbi would be the go-to out of smaller-sized barbeque restaurants! This place is an emerging barbeque trend in Seoul right now.
There are no seats in this restaurant, as everyone stands around the metal grill. This unique way to Korean BBQ has kept this place going for over 6 decades now. I have to mention that the beef served here isn't super premium Korean beef a lot of people rave about. This place serves Australian beef and Korean beef.
Located in Sinchon, Seoul, Yeonnam Seo Seo Galbi is a great option if you'd like to try out medium-high quality beef at a reasonable price. It's interesting to stand while eating for a change!

4. Kkotdwaeji Gallery Hongdae Branch(꽃돼지갤러리 홍대점)
- Address: 서울 마포구 와우산로19길 19
- Hours: 12:00-00:00
- Price: ₩12,900 per person (AYCE)
Kkotdwaeji is also a franchise and I don't recommend the Hongdae branch in the summer because it gets way too hot inside. One interesting thing about Kkotdwaeji is the variety of dishes you can get here at great prices including pork belly, chicken feet and cheese jjimdak (braised chicken).
If you're a Korean BBQ lover and a cheese lover, then this place is for you!

5. Ilbunji Makchang Sillim Flagship (일번지막창 신림동본점)
- Address: 서울 관악구 호암로26가길 43
- Hours: 16:00-02:00
- Price: ₩12,900 per person (AYCE)
If you have cravings for pork belly and makchang (intestines), you've got to come to Ilbunji! This place is loved by local students.
Ilbunji serves frozen makchang but it cooks fast and the pork belly cooked in oil from the makchang has layers of flavours that are unforgettable!

6. GoGong (고공)
- Address: 서울 성동구 왕십리로8길 10
- Hours: 17:00-00:00
Located in an alley outside of Ttukseom station in Seongsudong, GoGong has always been my choice of Korean BBQ in this area because of its elegant interior and high-quality meats. The meats served here are at a different level of quality than the AYCE meats I mentioned above.
The side dishes are different from most other places that serve them in heavy sauces. Rather, they are very refreshing and light, suitable to be enjoyed with the meat. The three dipping powders are pepper, salt and Himalayan salt. Dip the pork belly into each of the three dipping powders to try a variety of different flavours.

Hidden in the Euljiro/Chungmuro area, Odomyeonok is a Korean BBQ place frequented by many locals. This place offers dishes other than Korean BBQ, making it a comprehensive stop for anyone who is in the mood for some authentic Korean cuisine.
Odomyeonok's servers will cook your food for you, just relax and watch the meat being lined up on the grill and cooked to perfection. The meat has been run by a knife beforehand, making it easier and faster to cook.
Wrap the beef inside a lettuce leaf, put slices of onion on top, add a chopstick dip of ssamjang (gochujang and doenjang mix), wrap it right up and devour the whole thing. Such a classic way of eating Korean BBQ.

8. MUSSO(무쏘)
- Address: 서울 마포구 잔다리로 10
- Hours: 24 hours, 365 days
- Price: ₩19,800 per person (AYCE)
If you're in the mood for decent Korean BBQ at a decent price, MUSSO is worth consideration. MUSSO has been adored by many locals and I myself have been a good amount of times as well.
I had a great impression on their galbi (beef ribs), especially with the quality I got for the price. The side dishes are self-served. If you're craving multiple parts of barbeque meat and beef at the same time, MUSSO is a great option.

You can never leave out hanwoo (premium Korean beef) when discussing Korean BBQ. Hanwoo is a must if you're traveling Korea and Majanggol is a great option offering authentic hanwoo cooking. I went once myself and it was an unforgettable experience.
Hanwoo at Majanggol showed off its beautiful pink hues, turning brown and juicy as it was getting cooked. It was the best barbeque I've ever had. The meat served here is the highest premium quality of 1++. Whether cooked medium or well done, the meat oozed out an amazing flavour and melted in my mouth.
I'm hungry again looking at these pictures. Majanggol is an ideal destination for you if you plan on trying out premium Korean beef.

10. Sookdal Pork Mullae Branch (숙달돼지 문래점)
- Address: 서울 영등포구 문래북로 33
- Hours: 11:30-23:00 (Break Time 15:00-17:00)
Sookdal Pork is also a popular franchise in the city. It serves high-quality, delicious pork. Although it's on the pricey side, the quality and flavour make it worth it.
The server put pork belly on the grill and cooked it for us. We were able to relax and chat while waiting for the food to be cooked. Because this place is on the pricey side, the quality of customer service was better than average as well.

11. Gyodae Two-Storey House Jonggak/Gwanghwamun Branch (교대이층집 광화문점)
- Address: 서울 종로구 삼봉로 95
- Hours: 11:00-23:30
Located in a small alley, Two-Storey House serves authentic Korean BBQ. I've been to this place once and it was a good experience.
The pork belly is cooked until golden brown, along with rice cake and mushrooms. Although the portions aren't big, I was able to get a good amount to feel full.
A nice pot of seafood soup was served on the side and boiled on the table. I could see lots of working professionals walk in after their day at work.

12. God of Samgyup (삼겹의 신)
- Address: 서울 마포구 어울마당로 111-1 2F
- Hours: 11:00-06:00
- Price: ₩11,900 per person (AYCE)
God of Samgyup can be considered a rival to Ungteori Saenggogi. I personally think this place is pretty good too and the meat is quite good for its price.
The price is similar to that of Ungteori Saenggogi, a wide range of meats including pork belly, pork neck, beef belly, rib, etc. are served. Pretty great for its price, right?

13. Hanam Pig (하남돼지)
Hanam Pig is another franchise with branches all throughout Seoul. Although it's not an AYCE franchise, I still think this place manages to satisfy most people without breaking their bank.
Hanam Pig offers generous portions of different parts of pork. It has over 10 locations in Seoul which makes it very likely that you'll pass by at least one branch during your travel in Seoul.
I've been once and I knew instantly that the quality of the meat was better than that of AYCE meats. I was impressed that they managed to control quality while keeping the price at a reasonable range.

14. Gangnam Dwaeji Sanghoe (강남 돼지상회 무한리필 홍대점)
- Address: 서울 마포구 홍익로5안길 28
- Hours: 11:30-00:00
- Price: ₩11,900 per person (AYCE)
Gangname Dwaeji Sanghoe has been gaining popularity recently and it offers different parts of pork for a cheap price. What's interesting about this place is that you can add fried chicken as well, which tasted a lot better than I expected.
Keep in mind that all meats here are frozen. There are lots of side dishes to go with the meat as well. This is a great AYCE option if you're craving lots of different parts of pork and a variety of side dishes.

15. Mutongsam Sinchon Branch (무통삼 신촌점)
- Address: 서울 서대문구 연세로7안길 10-4
- Hours: 12:00-00:00
- Price: ₩10,900 per person (AYCE)
There are a good number of AYCE Korean BBQ options in Sinchon as well. Mutongsam is a great place that offers meat worth its price. The cheapest option includes pork belly and I recommend you go with option two (₩11,900) which includes pork belly and pork neck.
All the side dishes are self-served and meats need to be ordered to the servers. I love their pork neck when it's freshly cooked and crispy on the outside.

16. Dontong Hwigyeong Branch (돈통 휘경점)
- Address: 서울 동대문구 이문로 58
- Price: ₩12,900 per person (AYCE)
Dontong Hwigyeong branch is located close to Kyunghee University and offers AYCE Korean BBQ at a price similar to other AYCE places, but the quality of the meat is superb and it comes with octopus and assorted vegetables.
It's just full of different flavours and textures that it takes me a long time to get sick of eating here. The AYCE option includes pork belly, octopus, ribs, chicken, beef belly, wings, etc. It's been on my favourite AYCE K BBQ list for a while now.
This wraps up my list of 16 Korean BBQ places worth visiting in Seoul. Which one are you the most keen on trying?
