COVID-19 (aka Coronavirus) is spreading fast in Korea,  with over 6,000 confirmed by March 4th. Korea ranks second in number of patients, and the Korean government is looking for effective ways to control the disease. An example would be this "Drive Thru" test. Even though online public opinion on current government is negative, this new measure got positive reactions.

「Drive Thru」originally is found in fast food stores, so you don't have to get off the car to pick up food. Korean government has adopted method to fasten the inspection duration. It has shorten the process up to 10 minutes even though it is just a simplified test. 


The process is divided in to three parts.

  1. First, inspector run epidemiological survey, and take the body temperature of the subject.
  2. Based on the data doctor diagnose the  likelihood of Coronavirus infection. If it seems likely you move on to third step. 
  3. Doctor will explain the diagnosis result, and guidelines. To prevent further infection, the car will be disinfected.

There are "Drive Thru" inspections installed all over the country. It will reduce the risk of cross infection between inspector and the subject, and also save much time. This way, impact of the suspected patient can be minimized.
