Going to see the cherry blossoms bloom in the spring is a non-negotiable for anybody visiting Korea in the spring. The spring is filled with beautiful cherry blossoms and is unlike any other season in Korea! We have listed a forecast of the cherry blossom season in Korea, and also the must-visit places for cherry blossom festivals. There are so many beautiful places to see the cherry blossoms in both Seoul and all around Korea. 

For those willing to travel away from Seoul, here are some spots to visit in Incheon, Gyeongju, Jeju-do, Gangwon-do, Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do, and more!

*Popular cherry blossom spots can get overwhelmingly crowded during peak season! We've labeled the less crowded spots in case you want to avoid the crowds! Note that it's best to go to these spots during the weekdays, as weekends can get crowded nonetheless!

As you can tell from the forecast the best time to see the cherry blossoms this year will be from late March to early April! The cherry blossoms are not in full bloom for that long so make sure to go before you miss it!

Seoul

1. Seoul Forest (서울숲)

Seoul Forest has to be one of the greenest places in the city, always ready to give its visitors nature's break from the metropolitan scenes. We can expect to see the beautiful cherry blossoms around early April in Seoul. Walking down trails while being surrounded by pink hues of these beauties, Seoul Forest is definitely a place you don't want to miss out on this spring!

2. Jamsil Seokchon Lake (잠실 석촌호수)

Seokchon Lake, stunning waters surrounding Seoul's landmarks including Lotte Tower and Lotte World, is especially breathtaking when cherry blossoms bloom all around it. Another way to catch the view of their reflection on the water is from high up at Lotte Tower!

3. Yeouido Yunjungro (여의도윤중로)

A variety of flowers (including cherry blossoms) surround a large area of government buildings including the National Assembly Building spring come, creating beautiful trails along the shores of Hangang. The Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival hosts fun activities including painting, photo zones, live music performances and hanging wish ribbons.

4. Kyung Hee University (경희대학교) [Less Crowded]

Having one of the most beautiful campuses in Korea, Kyung Hee University's grounds are especially stunning when the cherry blossoms bloom.

5. Danginri Cherry Blossom Street (당인리벚꽃길) [Less Crowded]

Just a short 5-minute walk from Hongdae, this residential area, blanketed in cherry blossoms, is lesser-known, making it perfect for taking photos without people in the background!

6. Ansan Cherry Blossom Street (안산벚꽃길) [Less Crowded]

Situated behind Seodaemun District Hall, Ansan is a great place for a hike or stroll, especially in the spring, as it is covered in cherry blossoms. There is a garden decorated with all sorts of spring flowers, so it's definitely worth the visit! There are tons of cute, aesthetic cafes nearby, including the viral waterfall cafe!

Busan

1. Gaegeum Cherry Blossom Culture Street (개금벚꽃문화길) [Less Crowded]

Nestled in a residential neighborhood in Busan, this spot is a newer find that people frequent during cherry blossom season. It's right next to a university campus, which you can walk into, which also has lots of cherry blossom trees, so make sure you stop by during your visit to Busan!

Public Transportation: Subway: 10 minute walk from Naengjeong Station Exit 1; Bus: Busanjin-gu10-1 

2. Samik Beach Town Apartment (삼익비치타운아파트)

You can get a clue from the name of this spot but yes, it is a normal apartment complex, but whaat makes it so special are the cherry blossom tunnels that decorate the streets. Located right by Gwangalli Beach, it's a great spot to drop by before heading to a ocean view cafe in Gwangalli!

3. Maekdo Ecological Park & Daejeon Ecological Park (대저생태공원 & 맥도생태공원)

The two ecological parks are connected by a 2km trail which makes it a popular cherry blossom spot every spring. Walk through the park and surround yourself with the lovely cherry blossoms!

4. Oncheoncheon Park (온천천시민공원)

This park is loved by Busan residents as a popular walkway and the crowd gets even bigger during spring because of its beautiful cherry blossoms.

5. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (진해군항제)

This is the biggest cherry blossom festival in Korea that attracts a huge number of visitors every year. It's a magnificent scene of cherry blossoms surrounding either side of a stream.

Incheon

1. Songdo Central Park (송도센트럴파크)

Not a lot of people know of this park surrounding an artificial lake. It became a booming spot when it was introduced on the Return of Superman, a famous Korean TV show featuring celebrities' kids. This park creates a beautiful scenery of greens, blooming cherry blossoms and the lake.

2. SK Petrochemical Complex (SK석유화학단지)

This is an Incheon local's hidden spot. The place doesn't even show up on Google Map if you search in English, but it's one of the best cherry blossom spots in the city.

3. Incheon Grand Park (인천대공원)

The most famous park in Incheon, Incheon Grand Park has greeneries surrounding beautiful flowers and pavilions over a large area! It's especially beautiful when cherry blossoms are out!

Gyeonggi-do

1. Gapyeong Eden Cherry Blossom Road (에덴벚꽃길)

If you don't mind the travel, I recommend you go to Eden Cherry Blossom Road. It's not as crowded and just as big in scale. Gapyeong is a beautiful area of Korea and taking a trip in the spring to see the cherry blossoms as well as Gapyeong would be a perfect spring getaway!

2. Nami Island (남이섬)

Nami Island, already a super popular destination, is great for road trips and travels by train. KR Pass offers you lots of options and will get you from Seoul to Nami Island via ITX.

3. Wonmisan (원미산)

During an extremely short time window, you can spot azaleas and cherry blossoms at the same time, a very unique scenery.

4. Seoul Grand Park (서울대공원)

Lots of children's playgrounds are available at this park along with cherry blossoms. There are also many live animals and other gardens at this park making it the perfect spot for an outdoor date or a day trip with your family!

5. Hwaseong Fortress (수원화성)

Hwaseong Fortress, located in Suwon, oozes beauty of an architecture with a long history. Walk along the fortress walls surrounded by pink hues of cherry blossoms.

Gangwon-do

1. Gyeongpo Lake (경포호)

Gangneung is not only about the stunning oceans! At Gyeongpo Lake, you'll see beautiful flowers blooming along the shoreline. Along with the beautiful cherry blossoms, this lake is a popular place to bird watch and just relax and enjoy nature. It's a great place to plan a two-day trip.

2. Gangneung Namsan Park (강릉 남산공원)

Gangneung offers lot of different scenic spots and one of them has to be its Namsan Park. As it welcomes all four seasons thoroughly, the park boasts beautiful nature scenes all year round. Going around springtime to check out their cherry blossoms is one way to take in its charms!

Gyeongju

1. Bomun Lake (보문호)

An artificial lake well-known in Gyeongju, you'll also find temples and greeneries all along the lake. It's a perfect destination for cherry blossom enthusiasts in Busan for a day trip.

2. Bulguksa Temple (불국사)

Bulguksa is a famous Buddhist temple in Gyeongju. You can learn about its history while taking in the stunning views accompanied by the beautiful spring flowers! It is also known for having double cherry blossoms during spring.

3. Woljeonggyo Bridge (월정교)

This bridge is a popular tourist site located in Gyo-dong, Gyeongju that crosses Muncheon Stream. It was built during the Silla period and restored a thousand years later, with the last touches added in 2018. It's a beautiful spot to visit year-round, but is especially nice during the springtime!

4. Hwangnyongwon (황룡원)

Hwangnyongwon is a famous landmark in Gyeongju near Bomun Lake. The central tower is a Buddhist space that can be visited by people to practice their beliefs. It has 9 stories and is a beautiful sight to see in the spring among the cherry blossoms!

Jeju Island

1. Samseonghyeol (삼성혈)

Samseonghyeol is a place with three holes in the ground. It's hidden in a dense forest and has a mysterious atmosphere to it. When the cherry blossom is added the whole place becomes mystically beautiful.

2. Jeju University（제주대학교)

Local Universities are perfect places to enjoy the natural environment. If you are visiting Jeju-do during cherry blossom season, it is a great place to walk around the school campus to enjoy beautiful spring flowers.

3. Noksan-ro (녹산로)

Noksan-ro is a place we personally recommend for cherry blossom in 2022. In spring you can enjoy the beautiful cherry blossom and yellow canola. You won't be able to forget once you visit the place.

Chungcheong-do

1. Gyeryongsan (계룡산) 

Gyeryongsan is one of the most famous mountains in Korea for its mystical energy. In 2023 Spring you can find beautiful scenery with cherry blossoms. Gyeryongsan Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the largest festivals in the town, and you can find interesting performances and experiences here. 

2. Gongju Jungdong Catholic Church (공주중동성당)

Gongju Jungdong Catholic Church dates back 100 years. You can feel the peaceful and holy atmosphere of a church, along with the beautiful cherry blossom.

Jeolla-do

1. Iksan Wanggungli (익산왕궁리) 

Iksan Wanggungli is a historic site that holds the ruins of the Baekje era and is selected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 2022, if you are in the southern area of Korea around Spring time, you can enjoy the natural environment and historical sites in Iksan, especially in Whanggungli.
