Regional Description
Jeju Island, also known as Jeju-do, is South Korea's largest island and a popular travel destination, renowned for its natural beauty, unique culture, and mild climate. Located in the Korea Strait, southwest of the Korean Peninsula, Jeju Island was formed from volcanic activity, which has shaped its dramatic landscape. Hallasan, a dormant volcano and the highest mountain in South Korea, dominates the center of the island. Many people underestimate the size of the island: it takes approximately three hours to travel from the very west to the very east. One recommendation is to choose one section of the island and explore that specific area. The worst thing one can do is to attempt to travel the entire island, moving from one spot to another, and end up spending half of the day inside a car, missing out on the real beauty of Jeju. One of the most delightful aspects of Jeju is its abundance of cute, themed cafes, which have become a quintessential part of the island's experience. These cafes are more than just places to grab a coffee—they embody the island's laid-back atmosphere and offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Each cafe often reflects the island's natural beauty, featuring designs inspired by Jeju's landscapes, local products, and cultural motifs. Visitors can enjoy their trip while taking in views of the ocean, mountains, or tangerine orchards, all while experiencing a slower, more relaxed pace of life that is deeply ingrained in Jeju's way of living. The nature provides the perfect setting for tourists to unwind and savor the tranquil, unhurried lifestyle that Jeju Island offers, making it a destination that stands out not just in Korea, but on a global scale.
