Although Chinatown may not be what you would think of in terms of Korean tourist destinations, it is a must visit for Koreans when they come to Incheon.

If you come here in the afternoon when the sun is just right, the whole of Chinatown is filled with a delightful red light. But we don't recommend visiting at night, as it gets very dark.

Where does the famous Korean Jjajangmyeon come from?

After Incheon port opened in 1883, many Chinese restaurants were established and frequented by people who worked at the port.

To satisfy the tastes of Koreans, the restaurants began to serve a more Korean-style Chinese noodle dish, which we know today as Jjajangmyeon.

But are you curious about the history of this dish and how it has changed over time?

You can find the answers to your questions at the Jjajangmyeon Museum!

Gonghwachun is the first Chinese restaurant in Korea, and the originator of Korean Jjajangmyeon.

From the Main Street of Chinatown, you can clearly see a building with a large sign with the words "共和春".

There are multiple floors, so the staff will kindly tell you which floor you need to take the elevator to.

Local's Guide to Chinatown and Wolmido: Gonghwachun

It's my second time here at Gonghwachun, and my favorite menu here was certainly their jajangmyeon.

It's somewhat expensive for a jajangmyeon, but the flavor clearly sets it apart from ordinary jajangmyeon, and is unforgettable.
