Busan is known for their fresh seafood, so while we were visiting, we wanted to get some fresh fish. Today, we'd like to introduce you to a popular restaurant in the Gwangalli area of Busan known as Onbab (온밥), which specializes in grilled fish. Let's see what Onbab is all about!

Review
We had heard great things about Onbab, especially in regards to the freshness of their dishes. We were excited to see what this restaurant was like and weloved the warm wooden exterior! Given that its name means "hot rice" in Korean, we thought that this exterior was fitting for the restaurant.
We arrived at the restaurant around noon. There was a lot of natural light, so the interior felt bright and open!
After looking at the different menu items, we decided to order the grilled mackerel (고등어구이 한상) and grilled pollack (금태구이 한상) dishes.
This was the prep station where the cook prepared the serving trays for our orders. We appreciated how we could see the effort the cook took in preparing our meals.
When our food arrived, and we were amazed by the presentation! From the grill marks on the fish to the variety of colorful side dishes, we couldn't wait to dive in.
Grilled Mackerel (고등어구이 한상)

This is the grilled mackerel dish! They provided a fresh lemon slice, which you can squeeze on top of the fish. We also made a dipping sauce with wasabi and soy sauce. This fish was hearty yet soft in texture. The flavors of the mackerel, lemon, and dipping sauce went really well together!
Grilled Pollack (금태구이 한상)
17,000 won
This is the grilled pollack dish, which we also squeezed some lemon juice on top of. This fish was so flaky and soft – it melted in our mouths!
Added Fried Egg with Soy Sauce (간장계란밥 변경)

At Onbab, every order comes with a bowl of rice. We recommend that you add a fried egg with soy sauce to your rice. We mixed the fried egg, soy sauce, and rice together, and it was delicious! The fried egg and soy sauce added a nutty and savory flavor to the rice. Paired with some pickled side dishes, this was the perfect bite!
Our order also came with a side of mashed potatoes!
This side dish was so creamy.
We also enjoyed the seaweed soup that came with our order. Even though it was a hot summer day, the hot broth of this soup was refreshing and paired nicely with our fish!
