The Beaches of Jeju Island
2019 in the image above! I've also picked out a few key spots, so keep reading! Iho Tewoo Beach (이호 테우 해수욕장) * Address: 제주도 제주시 도리로 20 * Open: from June 22 to August 31 (2019) The "Iho Tewoo Beach" is very close to the Jeju International Airport, and is the nearest beach to Jeju City. Getting from the city to beach is easy, but the beach itself is quite small. It's great for those of you who want to take a quick break from the city to enjoy some waves! At Iho Tewoo Beach, you can even see planes taking flight and landing up close! It's the perfect place to enjoy your last day at Jeju Island. Samyang Beach (삼양 해수욕장) * Address: 제주도 제주시 선사로8길 10 * Open: from July 1 to August 31 (2019) "Samyang Beach", which is also quite close to the city, is different from the other white beaches on Jeju Island in that it's less well known among tourists and it has glittering black sand. There are quite a number of visitors who come to bathe in the summer sand. Gwakji Beach(곽지 해수욕장) * Address: 제주도 제주시 애월읍 곽지3길 27 * Open: from June 22 to August 31 (2019) Gwakji Beach is also a popular beach for playing in the water, and it's also close to Jeju City (though it takes some time to get there). Gwakji Beach is characterized by its rich natural landscape of fine sand, black rocks, and the wide open sea. Hyeopjae Beach (협재 해수욕장) * Address: 제주 제주시 한림읍 협재리 2497-1 * Open: from June 22 to August 31 (2019) Hyeopjae Beach is arguably the best beach in Jeju Island! The beautiful scenery and emerald ocean just scream summer island holiday vibes. The best part of Hyeopjae Beach is the amazing sight and the delicious seafood. Walk along the seashore, and enjoy the beautiful Jeju summer. Jeju's most famous tourist spots like Hallim Park and Hyeopjae Cave are all located nearby Hyeopjae Beach, so instead of playing in the beach all day long, dry out your body for a while and enjoy the beauty of Jeju Island! Gimnyeong Beach(김녕 해수욕장) * Address: 제주도 제주시 구좌읍 김녕리 492 * Open: from July 1 to August 31 (2019) "Geumnyeong Beach" is located towards the Northeast of Jeju Island, and has an unforgettable scenery: the blue sea. The coastal waters of Geumnyeong Beach shine beautifully like diamonds, and the bay really captures the beauty of nature. It's the perfect place to take your photo of a lifetime! Pyoseon Beach(표선 해수욕장) * Address: 제주도 서귀포시 표선면 표선리 44-4 * Open: from July 1st to August 31 (2019) Pyoseon Beach is also known as "Pyoseon Haevichi Beach", and is located on the eastside of Jeju. It's also famous for its beautiful Jeju sunrise. When the tide is low, you can walk on the white silky sand. The sand is made up of shell powder, turning it into a beautiful milky white. It is said that the heat from the sand has amazing curative effects for people suffering from neuralgia. Hwasun Golden Sand Beach (화순 금모래 해수욕장) * Address: 제주 서귀포시 안덕면 화순리 776-8 * Open: from July 1 to August 31 (2019) Hwasun Golden Sand Beach is located in Southwest Jeju, and is somewhat special. In addition to its beautiful golden sand beach, there's also a natural spring! It's also conveniently located nearby Jeju Shinhwa World and Jeju Water Park. Jeju Island is not only rich in mountains, forests, and beautiful landscapes, it's also home to countless beaches along the coastline. Make the most of your summer! Go to Jeju and enjoy both the magnificent natural scenery and the cool summer beaches. Take amazing photos and feast your eyes on the beautiful sights. What Makes Starbucks In Korea Unique?
markets for ₩100,000 (USD $82) each, which is easy cash for the resellers. Performance of Starbucks Korea What's the secret behind Starbucks Korea's consistent success? Since the very beginning in 1999 all the way up to today, Starbucks is doing well. This means their sales were constantly increasing without slowing down or a decrease. Their annual sales in 2019 marked around ₩1.9T (USD $1.6B) and they are expecting even higher sales in 2020. An interesting fact is that you will be able to spot countless Starbucks stores near your area as there are 1425 locations in Korea and 518 in Seoul alone. Since Starbucks Korea is operated directly by its Korea headquarters, its main goal is to attract the most customers to the store, which is why Starbucks Korea is putting much effort into making quality merchandise. For instance, they have previously collaborated with Moleskin, Lamy Pen, PANTONE, 10 Corso Como, and BTS to make the merchandise worthy compared to other ordinary stationeries offered elsewhere! Moreover, their diary planner (which is another seasonal e-frequency event merchandise) increases the amount of sales significantly at the end of each year. There hasn't been numerical data reported officially, but the insiders from Starbucks have commented on their sales of merchandise before. Another reason why Koreans are in love with Starbucks merchandise is their adorable but moderate design; the United States and South Korea are the only Starbucks out of 75 countries that have design teams. It makes Korea the only country with its own design team outside the country where the headquarters is. Mobile Order & Pay If you were a regular at Starbucks from your home country, I can assure you that you have used the Starbucks app for mobile orders; it makes your life easier as you can simply place an order without talking to anyone! Did you know that the mobile order system was first invented and established at Starbucks in Korea? Korea called this system 'Siren Order', and within a month of establishment, Howard Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks sent an email to Starbucks Korea saying, "Fantastic!" After Starbucks Korea implemented Siren Order, Starbucks started to benchmark the system across the States, Europe, and Asia, which became today's mobile order and pickup system. Localized Starbucks Stores Starbucks Korea opens up special branches that incorporate the beauty of Korean architecture and culture from the store. The picture below is the Starbucks Hwangudan branch located near Myeongdong. This specific store is beautifully renovated recently with a wall painting of vibrant colours that represents Korea, and the floor-seating culture that was traditionally the norm in Korea. Hwangudan Branch Address: 서울 중구 소공로 112 Hours: Mon - Fri: 07:00 - 22:00, Weekend: 08:00 - 21:00 Other localized and unique Starbucks locations include: Gwanghwamun Branch Address: 서울 종로구 종로1길 42 Hours: 7:00 - 21:00 Express Bus Terminal Branch Address: 서울 서초구 사평대로 205 Hours: 7:00 - 22:00 Drinks that You Can Only Find in Korea Many global franchises customize their menus to fit the local palate. Starbucks Korea is no exception! It has developed creative drinks and desserts for the customers here, and their appearance and the decorations are attractive enough for the consumers to keep trying the new seasonal menus. Out of countless unique and limited-edition drinks, I have brought some that caught my attention. 'Choux Cream Crunch Latte and Frappuccino' used vanilla bean paste to enhance the natural flavor as well as pastries pieces for the crunchy texture on top. 'Violet Roasted Sweet Potato Latte and Frappuccino' was well-known for being not as sweet as other brands' sweet potato lattes. Also, they look pretty! In 2019, Starbucks released a latte and a Frappuccino featuring rice from Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. Starbucks wanted to use local staple food as its main ingredients for the drinks and decided on the idea of rice from Icheon, a region known for growing quality rice. The taste of the drinks is similar to soft milk tea. While the rice latte is gently sweet with fried rice on top which adds a nice texture, the rice Frappuccino is slightly sweeter than the latte! Another hit this year was the collab with BTS, offering limited-edition BTS goods and purple star cupcakes and purple berry cheesecake with BTS logo chocolate on top. Starbucks Korea also creates limited-edition menus only for some specific regions. For instance, there are 'Jeju Mugwort Cream Frappuccino', 'Jeju Hallabong Black Tea Blended', and 'Jeju Black Seasame Latte and Frappuccino' that can be only found on Jeju Island. Lots of local Korean visitors to Jeju Island actually head to the Starbucks and try the menus because they can't be found in other cities. Last year when I visited Jeju Island, I also went to one of the Starbucks cafes in Jeju to try their specialty menus! I ordered Black Sesame Frappuccino, Mugwort Cream Frappuccino, Green Tea Tiramisu Island and Walnut Carrot Blended. All four menus were exclusive only at Jeju, and I was more than happy to try them with great scenery outside. Also, there are two drink menus that are only offered in Busan. There are 'Busan Red on The Beach' and 'Busan Sandy Beach Cream Frappuccino' which both remind consumers of the sunset oceans and the spacious beaches of Busan! Koreans' continuous consumption of limited-edition merchandise, drinks, and desserts generated today's Starbucks culture in Korea. What are your thoughts? Have you spotted any similarities or differences compared to Starbucks from your home country? If you have any questions or suggestions, leave a comment down below or contact us at ....

If you are in Korea, you will definitely want to keep up with the trends and buy yourself a beige or brown coat. GLAMPING This is probably on the bucket list for many people, myself included. Autumn is the perfect season to go for you to go glamping (glamorous + camping) because the sun is not too strong, so you can sit in the tent without getting too hot. In addition, the cool weather also makes BBQ parties even better. In Korea today, there are many campsites with facilities and supplies prepared, you just need to bring food. It's a great activity to do with friends or as a couple and it's not as intense as real camping. I like the caravan style like the picture below! Source: GO TO NAMI ISLAND AND ENJOY THE GINGKO TREES This row of yellow-leaved trees is made of gingko trees. This is a specialty in Korea every autumn. The golden leaves of the ginkgo trees brighten up the whole road. Perhaps one of the places with the most beautiful rows of ginkgo trees is Nami Island. This place is so beautiful that it becomes a must-visit destination for every Korean in the fall. TAKE PICTURES OF PINK MUHLY GRASS AT SKY PARK If you are in Seoul, don't miss out on Sky Park (하늘공원) in Mapo-gu. More Than Friends | Complete List Of Filming Locations From The Drama
대수굴식당 Address: 제주 제주시 구좌읍 대수길 10-4 Hours: 10:00-22:00 Closed on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of every month This is a real restaurant in Jeju. Lee Soo and Woo-Yeon come here to eat noodles, which is a really popular menu item here. Actually, this restaurant is well-known in the area for it's simple but delicious traditional Korean meals. Some consider it to be a little on the expensive side, but the prices are well worth it. SORISOMOON BOOKS 책방 소리소문 Address: 제주 제주시 한림읍 중산간서로 4062 Hours: Closed for the entire month of December In the drama, this is where Joon-Soo and Woo-Yeon meet. I didn't really like this plot line, but at least the bookstore is beautiful. I would strongly suggest checking out their page! It is a complex bookstore tucked away in the countryside that sells many souvenirs from around Jeju Island. It is also a place to promote the arts and culture of Jeju Island. If you usually pass by this kind of shop, you may not pay much attention. But the drama made it look interesting and worth a look! YONGNUNI OREUM 용눈이오름 Address: 제주 제주시 구좌읍 종달리 산28 This is the most famous scene of More than Friends. It is also one of the must-visit attractions in Jeju Island. This is where Lee Soo and Woo-Yeon meet again. Many people are impressed with the scenery around this location. Walking on the high mountain line, you can overlook the beautiful landscape. It is a natural landscape that has become more popular because of Korean dramas. Getting here is not that easy. Buses in Jeju are infrequent and come once every 30 minutes or so. However, they do have a drop off right outside this location. There is a winding path that takes you up to the peak of the small mountain. There is also a path along the entire ridge over 200 meters long that allows you to see for miles in every direction. You can see all the way to the sea. BUKCHON HANOK VILLAGE 북촌한옥마을 Address: 서울 종로구 계동길 37 Everyone is probably familiar with this area. It's Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul. Typically, you would never be able to find the street as totally empty as was shown in the drama. However, due to the pandemic, the streets are now always this empty. Although traveling to Korea has become increasingly more difficult, dramas like More Than Friends are keeping our hopes alive to see these tourist locations bustling once again. We can live vicariously and imagine ourselves there. JUMUNJIN PORT 주문진항 Address: 강원도 강릉시 주문진읍 해안로 1597 In this scene, Lee Soo paid tribute to other popular dramas and delivered a cliche romantic line. But people might not have been paying attention because they were too distracted by the beautiful scenery of Jumunjin Port and the East Sea in the background. I've taken photos here in the past. And I can assure you that it is even more beautiful in real life than in the show. The road runs along the coast and you can see far off into the horizon on the sea. There is a popular beach nearby and you can see fishing boats off the coast at night. YEONNAMDONG 연남동 Address: 서울 마포구 연남동 257-4 Woo-Yeon loves to drink. So when she went out for a few drinks and Lee Soo has to carry her home piggyback style, we can see the artsy alleys of . Record of Youth, a popular drama in Korea, also filmed scenes here. Does seeing the streets of Hongdae and Yeonnam-dong make you miss traveling to Seoul? Nowadays, the streets of Hongdae feel as far away as ever. All we can do now is relive our favorite memories of traveling by watching dramas. EULJIRO 을지로 Address: 서울 중구 을지로3가 was an important place in both the historical and the early development periods of Seoul. But now, it can't keep up with the speed of development seen in other areas. As a result, The alleys and lanes by the streets have also become the epitome of the old Seoul. There is an unexpected beauty in this part of town that seems stuck in time. Have you ever visited Euljiro and experienced the true local Seoul? This used to be an industrial part of town. So there are still a lot of manufacturing paraphernalia laying around that juxtapose with the technological wonder of the rest of the city. So if you're ever hanging out here, be like Lee Soo, take out your camera and capture the moment. TONIGHT 오늘밤 Address: 서울 영등포구 도림로 433-6 (old address) It serves as a very important location in More Than Friends. It is also part of a restaurant opened by P.O, a rapper and actor from the group Block B. It is located very close to another really popular restaurant in Seoul known as . Koreans say that this is mainly a check-in point, not any actual functional place. People who come to the area are mostly there to visit Old Mullae and can see this on the way. The beautiful atmosphere created by the small light bulbs at night is really unforgettable. OKIN ARCADE 옥인오락실 Address: 서울 종로구 옥인길 28 Many people can recognize this place from the moment they see it. In the drama, Lee Soo played a game with Woo-Yeon here. It is a located in the alleys of the neighborhood to the West of Gyeongbokgung Palace. In addition to the novel claw machine, there are also many retro games to play. Take a look at Lee Soo's tragic face... Many tourists have come to Gyeongbokgung Palace and then looked for the location of the game room. Not only can you play games and have a good time here, but you can also take some killer instagram photos with the neon lights. This completes our list of some of the best-looking filming locations in More Than Friends. Even if the ratings didn't reflect well on the series, hopefully the beautiful set pieces inspire people to visit some of these locations. ...

Haenyeo: Free Diving Ladies In Jeju Island
Then they start their careers as a haenyeo until their older years. Source: 서울신문 In Korea, it is reported that the class status of being a haenyeo was relatively low in 1105, during the 10th year rule of King Sukjong of Goryeo. The former Jeju Island ambassador issued an order saying, "Haenyeos are prohibited from working naked," and "Haenyeos are prohibited from working together." From old records in Jeju Folklore, the first records that document the life of haenyeo in Jeju Island in detail write about the poor life of haenyeos who have been robbed and abused. WHAT DO THEY DO? Source: jejudomin From spring to autumn is usually when people go out to the sea in the warmth. This applies to haenyeos, who are also looking for fishes in the sea as well. The way that they catch their fishes is completely different than what we know fishing to be like. Haenyeos have a very interesting diving technique passed down from generations as they can dive several meters deep without the need for oxygen tanks. An experienced haenyeo can dive more than 20 meters deep and hold their breath for more than 3 minutes! Scientists originally thought that they might have a special gene that helps them in the sea. But after examination, they found that they're just normal people without any special powers, who have been trained very well since a young age. The skill levels can be divided into high (상군), middle (중군), and low (하군). The pay for their work will also vary depending on their skills and experience. Source: Korea National Commission for UNESCO Haenyeos wear wetsuits and waterproof goggles to improve work efficiency and reduce various risk factors when diving to find marine animals. They use tools to harvest seafood such as abalone, octopus, and other sea creatures. THE RISKS Source: OhmyNews The longest diving time for haenyeos is around 7 hours. Therefore, most of the risks they face are tinnitus and hypothermia. They also have a duty to clean up trash and corpses in the sea. According to a haenyeo from Jeju Island, during their harvest, female divers who dive into the deep sea suffer from different water pressures when rising to the surface, fear of suffocation, and always being aware that they could die at sea during work. Source: Namhaebomnal Therefore, folk songs like "The Boundary of Life and Death (생과 사의 경계)", and "Back and Forth in the Path of the Underworld (저승길 왔다 갔다)" all refer to the fear and desperation of the life of haenyeos. Additionally, in 1981, there was a tragedy in which a hanyeo was killed by a shark when she was diving to find food in the sea. WHY ONLY WOMEN? Source: The National Folk Museum of Korea At this point, you're probably wondering why is it only women that are haenyeos? Well, it's important to consider the innate structure of the body. Compared to men, women have a higher body fat percentage and are more resistant to the low temperature at sea. However, in the Joseon Dynasty, there are also examples of men who dived and harvested seafood. They are called pojakin (포작인). Source: Herald Corporation In the 19th century, westerners visiting the Korean peninsula brought the image of haenyeo back to their own countries and called them "mermaids who can swim freely in the sea" and "oriental mermaids". However, the reality of haenyeos is much more different and definitely not the fantasy that they made it out to be. A lot of Koreans want the world to be more aware of the poverty of haenyeos instead of fantasizing about them by using words such as "mermaids" or "women of the sea". HAENYEO IN THE PRESENT Source: OhmyNews Nowadays, haenyeos of Jeju Island have become one of the most valuable people in the world. The number of haenyeos has decreased from 20,000 to less than 4,000 as many women from Jeju move to major cities such as Seoul to study and work. Therefore, the skills and culture of haenyeo are more difficult to pass down from generations. However, there are still a lot of haenyeos who still insist on protecting the culture. Additionally, Jeju Island has a museum that introduces the history of haenyeo and its cultural background. Many restaurants use advertising that says "Seafood caught by haenyeo" instead of using machines to catch their food which has less impact on the ecosystem and makes the food good quality as well. Today we learned more about the history and culture of haenyeo! It's pretty amazing, isn't it? The culture of haenyeo has been added to UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list as of November 2016. Wouldn't you want to try the seafood caught by a haenyeo?...
