The Drama Will End Soon. Will The Ending Befit This Heart-Abusing Love Story? Let's Take An Inventory Of Some Of The Most Memorable Scenes And Where They Were Filmed!
I can't believe it will be over soon! have you been following The Tale of the Nine Tailed starring Lee Dong-Wook and Jo Bo-Ah?
It really has gotten better and better with each episode.
Apart from the wonderful acting, I've also been interested in the magnificent and beautiful landscapes used for filming.
So, I've compiled some of my favorites and researched their locations so that we can all go visit them later!
Follow along as we await the end of our beloved drama.
LAVENICHE MARCH AVENUE
라베니체 마치 에비뉴
Address: 경기 김포 김포한강2로23번길
In the 5th episode, the place where Lee Yeon and Ji-A drank is actually not a foreign scene.
This is the Laveniche March Avenue in Gimpo, which is considered a newly urbanized area.
The flowing water is the Gimpo Waterway (김포대수로), and as the building gleam in their reflection on the water, visitors are reminded of Venice.
The nearest subway station to Laveniche March Avenue is Janggi Station (장기역), and nearby is the Han River 13 Park (한강근린 13공원).
Basically it is already one of the northernmost areas in South Korea. It can be quite worth it to have an experience that a lot of visitors to Korea don't have.
JAEIN WATERFALL
재인폭포
Address: 경기 연천군 연천읍 고문리 산21
Episode 10! At a very moving turning point, Lee Yeon took Ji-A to the mountain where he used to govern.
He told her about the starting point of his relationship with A-Eum 600 years ago.
It was also here that Lee Yeon confessed the truth about her death. Those of you who have seen the drama know.
But I don't want to include too many spoilers!
One important turning point of the plot, coupled with the beautiful waterfall...is there such a beauty that spans time and space?
Jaein Waterfall is a magnificent canyon with a height of more than 30 meters. It is one of the 26 most scenic spots listed in UNESCO's Global Geoparks list.
It is an important geographical landscape.
Located in the north of Yeoncheon district, it has beautiful waterfalls and magnificent canyon scenery. It's absolutely a must-see spot for trips anywhere near here.
AIRPORT ROYAL PLAZA
에어포트 로얄프라자
Address: 인천 중구 운서동 2850-2
Do you remember this spot? When Lee Yeon rushed to find The Imoogi in episodes 10 and 11?
The scene where he confronted The Imoogi was on the top floor of the Emart building next to Incheon Airport.
Although there should be no way for random people to access the roof, if there was a chance, would you?
This building is an Incheon Airport shopping mall opened in 2005. It occupies a large area.
In addition to the shopping area, there are museums and other exhibitions.
Unfortunately, the building has a really high turnover rate. Stores are always closing and new ones taking their place. The Emart seems pretty safe though.
HANOK TEA HOUSE
한옥찻집
Address: 서울 종로구 인사동12길 9
Hours: 11:00-21:30
Where is the Snail Bride's restaurant that Lee Yeon often visits? The answer is the Hanok Tea House located in Insadong.
Like the name of the shop, the inside of the Hanok Cafe serves delicious refreshments and traditional desserts
However, please note that it does not serve food like was shown in The Tale of the Nine Tailed.
From the filming, you can see the quaint and charming atmosphere of the store.
It was also cute to see the funny faces exchanged between Lee Yeon and Bok Hye-Ja, the owner of the Snail Bride Restaurant.
HAEGEUMGANG VILLAGE
해금강마을
Address: 경남 거제시 남부면 갈곶리
I wonder if you remember this spot?
In the second episode, Lee Yeon and Ji-A come to a certain island and discover more and more mysteries Including: skeletons, corpses with decapitated heads, why Ji-A's parents came here, as well as the snake pattern that suddenly appeared on her body.
It was all filmed in the Haegeumgang village in Geoje. It is a long distance from Seoul, and it is also located in a very remote location on Geoje Island.
Despite what the mystery and intrigue of the drama might lead you to perceive, this is actually a really quiet and simple village.
You can get delicious seafood and I highly recommend taking a walking tour around the next time you visit Geoje
OBSERVATORY OF THE KOREA METEOROLOGICAL ADMINISTRATION
서울기상관측소
Address: 서울 종로구 송월길 52
In the show, Lee Yeon's work place is the Afterlife Immigration Office, which is actually the Seoul Meteorological Observatory near Seodaemun Station.
It has a long history and is next to several palaces and old gates of the fortress wall.
Not only The Legend of the Nine Tailed was filmed here, but the hit 18 Again also used it for filming.
However, the shots that appear as though they take place inside the building were actually filmed elsewhere.
The Seoul Meteorological Observatory has been converted into a museum.
Those interested can arrange a trip here in the future and experience the history of early weather observation in Korea.
KOREAN FOLK VILLAGE
한국민속촌
Address: 경기 용인시 기흥구 보라동 107-1
One of the most important turning points in The Tale of Nine Tailed, Lee Yeon took Ji-A to the Korean Folk Village to find the legendary mythical characters.
Here, Ji-A changed into a hanbok, and Lee Yeon was reminded of his lost love A-Eum.
He kissed her with reluctance, but she said, "Did you kiss A-Eum or me?"
Such a sad question...
For filming, they really wanted to make it look like an old village. But even on a normal day, you can really experience the folk village in all its glory and be blown away by the traditional architecture, clothing, and performances.
GOSEONG SANJOKAM PARK
고성 상족암
Address: 경남 고성군 하이면 덕명5길 42-23
In the second episode, they not only went to the Haegeumgang Village, but also to this rocky coastal cave in Goseong.
Although it looks gloomy and scary in the drama, it is actually a beautiful place and has become a really popular photoshoot destination.
The exposed rock has been eroded by the wind and sun, and a huge cave has appeared. Take pictures here to satisfy your urge to have the best profile pic.
Just like how the drama must come to an end, so to must this post. Sigh...
The beauty of the drama is matched only by the scenery they used for filming. So be sure to check back in on this list when you're in Korea and visit some of these locations!
