Sso Good | Hongdae
Affordable AYCE beef barbeque in Hongdae!
We all know Hongdae's vibrant scenes provide patrons with many options when it comes to food. The same thing applies to Korean barbeque in Hongdae; options are abundant and endless.
Sso Good has been catching my eye recently being a buffet-style beef barbeque joint that often gets filled up with ravenous customers and sees a long waiting line outside.

Review
A step in, you'll be welcomed with a large dining hall filled with seats. The inside is nothing fancy but the tables are spacious enough to lay out all the banchans (side dishes) comfortably while the overall environment is very clean.
The default price per person is 21,900 which includes all-you-can-eat beef and a table setting consisting of a variety of banchans and vegetables.
Against the wall by the counter, you'll find a self-serve station for when you'd like to refill and grab side dishes and sauces.
In front of the open kitchen, you'll see a chef cutting up the meat into grillable sizes. Look at the marvellous marbling!
Soon after you sit down, the charcoal grill will be placed into your table with a small pan with a slab of butter on top. The serving staff will kindly guide you through what to cook on the grill and what on the pan.
The set of beef you get consists of different parts of the cow and when you ask for free refills, you cannot pick and choose certain parts. You'll be served a plate full of assorted beef parts each round.
Mix the onion slices with the pairing sauce for that refreshing piquant kick that goes well with the juicy meat.
Grab a bowl of their delicious naengmyeon (cold noodles) for ₩4,000 too! The spicy sour flavour pairs well with the meat and also works as the finishing meal to clear your palate. Add mustard and vinegar to your liking!
Doenjang jjigae (₩4,000), which is another go-to matching dish for KBBQ patrons, was mediocre here. The taste of deep, flavourful doenjang was missing in the soup.
Overall, it was an amazing experience getting a full-on beef barbeque meal for less than ₩30,000 per person. The banchans and naengmyeon beat our expectations and were also served fresh. If you're looking to fill up on delicious Korean beef at an affordable price, head on over to Sso Good!
