Imjingak Peace Park

Mangbaedan

Jangdan Station Steam Locomotive of Gyeongui Line

Imjingak is a representative peace tourism site in South Korea where the tragedy of the Korean War remains. Visitors can learn the importance of peace while looking at the painful traces of the war, and there are various war relics and an exhibition hall, as well as the Peace Nuri Park, a 30,000-square-meter grass field, which is well known as a tourist attraction.

In addition, the Imjingang River Bridge, which was bombed during the early days of the war and still remains, and the Bridge of Freedom, where Korean and UN soldiers crossed to find freedom and where communist soldiers were held as prisoners of war, are located in the Imjingak area, which was also a tragic battlefield during the Korean War.

Gallery Grives

Gallery Grives is a newly renovated exhibition and relaxation space, which was originally a bowling alley used by the US military during their deployment in Korea. The exhibition, Two Times, focuses not only on the Korean War but also on the stories of ordinary people who had no choice but to face the war. It features portraits of young soldiers who disappeared like dew during the war, as well as soldiers who joined the UN forces at a young age and fought as students, boy and girl soldiers, and other young soldiers.

Camp Grives

Inside the ammunition storage

Inside the military barracks

Camp Grives is located just 2km away from the Southern Limit Line of the DMZ, and it was a space where the US military was stationed for over 50 years after the Korean War. It is one of the oldest US military bases in Korea, and the traces of the US military's presence are still visible. In addition, Camp Grives was a filming location for the popular drama "Descendants of the Sun" in 2016, and visitors can enjoy various unique experiences such as wearing military uniforms and making dog tags here.

Odusan Unification Observatory

The Odusan Unification Observatory was built in 1992 as a six-story building with one basement floor to soothe the pain of separated families and to be used as an experiential education center for reunification. The observatory is also the closest point to North Korea from Seoul, with houses, the Kim Il-sung Memorial Tower, an elementary school, fields, and even a military checkpoint visible on North Korean soil. Since its opening, about 19 million people have visited the Odusan Unification Observatory, experiencing the reality of division, making it one of the best national reunification education centers in Korea.
